8|15 He Must Reign Until He Has Put All His Enemies Under His Feet
Notes
In this eighth week, Paul lays out the majestic order of God’s plan: Jesus has risen as the guarantee, he is reigning now as King, putting every enemy under his feet, and he is coming again to destroy even the last enemy — death itself — and hand over a perfected kingdom to the Father.
This is no vague hope. History has direction. Jesus is actively at work. Death will not have the final word. The King is coming, and when he does, everything will be made right.
If you’re weary, grieving, or wondering what this world is heading toward — this sermon lifts your eyes to the certain victory of Christ.
"23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. 24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death" (1 Co 15:22–26).
