Meet your Neighbour... Pastor Caleb Johnston
August 2026
Caleb has been at Redeemer since the very beginning and has served as a pastor here for the last six years. We asked him six questions.
How long have you been a Christian?
I've been a Christian for 16 years now. I grew up in a Christian household, but it was when I was 18 that I really took ownership of the faith for myself. It's been a journey of grace ever since.
How long have you been worshipping at Redeemer Church?
Lauren and I have been worshipping at Redeemer since the very beginning, twelve years ago. We were the first members and planting partners with Anthony and Ellen. I've been serving as a pastor here for the last six years, and involved in the music team for 8-9 years.
What's your favourite food?
My favourite food is usually whatever my wife Lauren has cooked. She's an excellent cook, and I generally reckon whatever she makes beats most things you can buy in shops or restaurants.
What's your favourite thing to do on a cold winter day or night?
On a cold winter day or night, my favourite thing is probably a sauna followed by a cold plunge. There's nothing quite like it for warming up from the inside out and then shocking the system back to life.
That, or get a good night's sleep.
Who are you most excited to meet in heaven one day?
I'm really looking forward to meeting Stephen in heaven one day. My eldest daughter and I have been reading about him recently, and the way he stood firm and even prayed for those stoning him is just remarkable. I'd love to hear his perspective on it all.
What's your pet peeve?
One of my more common pet peeves is when people don't put things away after they've used them. It can take many forms around the house! And yes, I'm guilty of doing it myself sometimes too.
